Follow the 3 steps below to help you get ready for the Dance-A-Thon (DAT):

STEP 1: Get an adult to help you CREATE your online DAT donation page.

Make it easier for your family and friends to sponsor you for the Dance-A-Thon!

Ask an adult to create your online DAT Donation Page at https://marguerita.walkstarter.org. Once your page is published, you may begin to virtually reach out to family and friends for their support.

ADULTS: For a video on how to set up your child(ren)'s DAT donation page, click here. Also, when creating the account for the donation page, please do NOT use your child's @students.ausd.us email address. Due to security, AUSD blocks messages from external senders, including the Marguerita Elementary PTA and Walkstarter.org. More importantly, we want to communicate with you. As fellow Marguerita parents and guardians, we are partners in supporting our school and our students. Thank you.

STEP 2: Ask your family and friends to SUPPORT you and win prizes!

To reach this year’s DAT fundraising goal, we need each student to raise at least $30.

Here are some ideas to get support for your fundraising:

  • Call your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to personally ask them to sponsor your Dance-A-Thon!

  • Ask your adult family members to:

    • Email the link to your online DAT Donation Page to your family and friends.

    • Text your DAT Donation Page link (with a special voice message from you!) to your family and friends.

    • Post your DAT Donation Page link on their social media accounts.

Let your family and friends know that their donations will be used to help fund virtual assemblies and field trips, classroom supplies and learning tools, Rockstar and Good Guys Awards, R.O.C.K. PBIS Program, 8th Grade Promotion activities, and scholarships! No amount is too small, and some employers even offer a donation matching program that could double the value of their donation!

Fundraising not only helps your school, but it also earns you the chance to win some great prizes, including a Xbox Series S Video Game Console! See Prizes for more information.

Please ask your adult family members to follow us on Facebook or Instagram. Prior to the big day, the Marguerita PTA will be sharing dance videos, announcing additional prizes, and posting more event details. Don't miss out on the latest news!

STEP 3: Be ready to DANCE and show off your moves on November 10th!!!

There's always time for a little dancing! Don't forget to practice your favorite dance moves everyday. Want some fun music videos to dance along to? Check out Noodle Television (NTV).

The Dance-A-Thon is Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. You will get to dance with your friends, teachers, and some surprise guests! The event will be via Zoom, and your teacher will share the Zoom link with you and your parents prior to the event.

We encourage all of you to dance (or just hang out!) with us that day. It will be fun!

Information for Parents and Families

Why are we having a Dance-A-Thon (DAT)?

Due to distance learning, the Marguerita PTA is unable to host our annual Jog-A-Thon. Although we are not together at school right now, our children can still have a fun-filled day with their friends and teachers at the virtual Dance-A-Thon. Students may do some fundraising, win prizes, learn fun moves, and then join the DAT dance party, all from home. Raised funds will be used to help close the public funding gap and to deliver programs to improve our students’ educational experience during this new normal.

When is the Dance-A-Thon, and how does my child participate?

The Dance-A-Thon is Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Each grade level will be assigned a 30-minute period to dance with their friends, teachers, and some surprise guests! The event will be via Zoom, and teachers will share the Zoom link with parents and students prior to the event.

How does the Dance-A-Thon raise money?

Our DAT fundraising goal is $26,000. To help us meet this year’s goal, we are asking each student to raise at least $30. Family and friends may support students by making monetary donations to the Dance-A-Thon. No amount is too small, and some employers even offer a donation matching program that could double the value of your donation! Donations are tax deductible – online donations will receive an emailed receipt immediately after payment submission. The Marguerita Elementary PTA tax ID is 95-6208112.

Why should my child participate?

In addition to making fun memories and raising money for their school, students may also win some great prizes! See Prizes for more information. We encourage all students to dance (or just hang out!) with us that day, regardless of fundraising amounts.
